Rescue Me ID: 16-08-15-00243Rodney (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hi there! My name is Rodney, and if you are looking for a loving, settled-in-his-ways Golden Retriever, it is your lucky day because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am six years old, and 80 pounds of quiet, gentlemanly love. I am potty trained, pretty good on a leash (though I do love to give squirrels a run for their nest!), and am happy to relax on my dog bed or couch so I don't need to be crated when my people leave me home while they go run errands or to that place they call 'work.' I would ... (Read More)love a calmer home with no small children to just relax...I don't think I had the best 'past life' before Fetching Tails saved me, so I even though I love to cuddle on my mommy, I am still getting used to being pet and flinch a bit when my foster parents first touch me. It would be amazing to have a patient human adult or two to show me kindness and let me know that being pet and spoiled is the best feeling ever! I bark a bit when meeting new dog friends on walks, but I get along fine with my foster brother Oliver, who is a Lab and big like me. I also really enjoy carrying my favorite squeaky toys around with me everywhere I go; they are so much fun to play with! Foster mommy says I can be a bit stubborn and will 'put on my doggie breaks' when she wants me to go somewhere I don't want to go, but like I said, I am a distinguished gentleman and know what I want! And I am also a pretty handsome guy, too, if I can be so humble. My foster mom saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control, where I was brought in with a weird haircut (someone shaved off my beautiful coat...who would do something like that?) Just ignore it because when my hair fully grows back I will have the long, lustrous gold locks that make all the other doggies swoon over us Golden Retrievers! If you think I could be the wonderful middle-aged pup for you, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation as soon as possible! I cant wait start my happily ever after with you! If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Adoption Requirements(No exceptions): *Be at least 21 years of age *Lives in 50 mile radius of Itasca within the Illinois border *Training is required for any of our young puppies *Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household *Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease) *Have a valid ID with current address *Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation *Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment Adoption Fees: Senior dog - 8 years and up, $75 Adult or young dog - 6 months to 7 years, $250 Puppies - under 6 months, $350 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-08-00392Judy (female)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS! Are you looking for a sweet, laid-back, mature and cuddly friend to brighten your days? Then look no further! I'm Judy and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I'm a small Schnauzer mix with luscious silver and grey hair, big black eyes, and unbelievably long black eyelashes. At only 17 pounds and 7 years young, I think I'm the perfect companion for anyone who wants a dog who is more settled, but still young-at-heart enough to enjoy the best life has to offer! I somehow became separated from my former ... (Read More)people. While wandering all alone, I suffered injuries and ended up at Chicago Animal Care & Control. The vet thinks I might have been hit by a car. Enter Fetching Tails Foundation, who swooped in to rescue me and help me get the medical care I needed. I've been recuperating in a loving foster home for the past couple months, and now I'm almost ready to go to my forever home. I love most people, and brighten up the minute I see my foster mom and dad. I'm a little shy with new people at first, but it doesn't take me long to warm up if you pet me - especially if you rub my belly! My foster family also includes two children, ages 9 and 11, and I really enjoy some cuddle time on the couch with them. I like that they're a little older and know how to behave around furry family members, especially small ones like me. I get along well with dogs, although I'm a little timid around bigger dogs or really active dogs until I know they're not going to hurt me. I'm fostered with three other dogs: A senior Rott mix named Ari (who is also available for adoption through FTF), a 3 year old pit mix, and a 5 month old, mid-sized puppy. The Rott mix is my favorite because she's mellow and gentle. Don't get me wrong - I like my other two foster sisters as well, I just prefer to hang around with slightly calmer, more settled dogs. Maybe you feel the same way? I have a positive, easy-going personality, and my favorite place to be is wherever my people are relaxing. I'm hoping for a forever home where the humans will let me sit on the couch with them, and maybe even let me sleep on the bed. I enjoy relaxing in the grass in my foster family's back yard. I like short walks, although I still have to build up my strength after my injuries. I had two pelvic fractures and had to have FHO surgery. For those who aren't familiar with that, my foster mom can fill you in on everything you need to know. Even though I'm fine now, I was off my legs for a couple months and have been undergoing physical therapy to get back into shape. I'm definitely looking forward to going for nice strolls with my new forever home. I'm crate trained, but I really don't need to be in a crate, and I'm never crated anymore in my foster home. I'm house trained and have excellent manners. I've never chewed on anything non-edible. I rarely bark unless I'm excited about something - like you coming home! My foster family has all four dogs on a regular potty schedule, so I don't have to ask to go outside. I sometimes go sit by the glass door to the backyard, but other than that, you might have to teach me how you want me to tell you I need to go out, OK? I know 'sit,' 'stay,' and 'no.'. I come when called, and I'm good on a leash. Oh - I forgot to tell you about the cutest little dance I do at feeding time. My foster dad says I tap dance! Even when I was still crated after my surgery, I would stand up and stomp my front feet really fast, bobbing up and down, to show I was excited about my meal! You're probably getting the idea that I'm really laid back and low maintenance. Mostly I just enjoying being near my people or the other dogs. I'm perfectly happy in any living space - small apartment or bigger house, I'll fit in anywhere. I can go up and down stairs now, so that's not a worry. If my new home has a fenced yard so I can lounge in the back yard off leash, that's wonderful. If not, that's ok, too. I'm sweet, loyal, affectionate, and adorable. I'm waiting for a family or individual with whom to share all the love that I still have to give. Could it be you? I hope so! Please let my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation know that you want to meet me! Love, Judy If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 16-07-11-00727Axel (male)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

MUST LIVE WITHIN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN ILLINOIS BORDER, NO EXCEPTIONS Why, hello! You must be looking for an active and fun, but also sweet and cuddly new buddy to call your best furry friend. You just hit the jackpot by finding my profile because I am the total package! My name is Axel and I am a 10-month-old 65-pound Rottweiler/Hound mix looking for a forever home through Fetching Tails Foundation. If looks are important to you, I am quite the stunning fellow: aren't the tan markings on my face super unique? They perfectly highlight my big dopey grin and chocolate eyes! But more importantly, my personality ... (Read More)is even better than my outward appearance. I am a big love bug and am always up for fun and adventures with my people! Doesn't that sound awesome? My Fetching Tails friends saved me from a kill shelter in southern Illinois. Boy, was I happy to jump on the transport van to start my new life! In fact, I am happy pretty much all the time now. I have so much fun in my foster home and get to go on field trips to play with my canine friends at the dog park a few times per week. I am what you might call a 'social butterfly' and I love making new friends of both the doggie and human variety. I have played well with dogs both big and small, though sometimes I need to be gently reminded that I am a big, strong boy and not itty bitty like some of my best friends (my doggie foster brother is only 12 pounds!); I love my friends and would never want to accidentally hurt them so I am a good listener when my human tells me I should think about calming down a bit or take a quick break from playtime. I am an active boy -- hey I am young and have some energy to work with! -- so I would love my forever family to enjoy outdoor adventures as much as I do. It would be fun to have a fenced yard so we can play zoomies (that's a technical dog-language term for running around as fast as we can) and fetch with my favorite balls and squeaky toys. I also really love car rides and long walks; just imagine all the fun places we could explore on long hikes and even jogs together! I am sure I would make a great workout buddy if you are looking for one. But fun fact: when I am all done with my adventures, nothing, and I mean nothing, makes me happier than curling up on the lap of my human for some serious cuddle time. Don't let my size fool you, big dogs can be lap dogs, too! I know that my humans have to get up and do stuff from time to time, but I would be totally content to stay cuddled with you indefinitely. I am an affectionate boy; I love to let you know how happy you make me with snuggles and kisses. I also have really good house manners so I would make an excellent addition to your home. I am crate trained and sleep in mine overnight and while my foster mom is at work, and even like taking naps in there when the door is left open so I can come and go as I please. It's my little man cave! And I am mostly potty trained; don't get me wrong, I know that I am supposed to go potty outside but sometimes I get so excited and happy to see you that I have a little dribble accident. With patience and more practice I will have the potty thing nailed down soon! I also know some basic commands, and I love getting treat rewards so much that I will 'give paw' without prompting just to show you what a good boy I am. So what do you think? I sound like I could be your new best friend, right? If sweet, loving, devoted, playful and endlessly happy sound like what you are looking for in your canine companion please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails today and tell them you are ready for a lifetime of fun and adventures with Axel! Rescue Me ID: 16-07-02-00263Walter (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS* Are you looking for a fun-loving, playful but very affectionate 75-pound lap dog? I am Walter, and if you are looking for an extra special canine companion to share your life with, you just might hit the jackpot with me! I am a year-old tan Mastiff mix with some handsome black highlights around my face to make me extra cute. I know how lucky I am to have been saved by Fetching Tails Foundation, and I love to enjoy life now that I have been given this second chance! Fetching Tails Foundation saved me from Chicago Animal Care and ... (Read More)Control, where I sat for weeks hoping to leave my cage behind for good. People passed me by because, quite frankly, my eye looked really gross. But my human angels from Fetching Tails looked at my sparkling personality instead of my bulging eye, so we left the overwhelming, loud shelter behind and I settled into my awesome foster home like I had always been there. Let's get the technical stuff out of the way: I had glaucoma in one eye and cataracts in the other. The glaucoma eye was beyond saving and extremely painful so that has been removed, and SO many really awesome people rallied behind me to raise money for me to have cataract surgery so I will be able to see again with one eye! Please don't let my eye issues dissuade you from considering me as your life buddy; I have adapted very well to my current condition and I will be even better after my sight is restored in my remaining eye. This eye stuff doesn't bother me now that I have been given the medical treatment and love I needed, so don't let it bother you! So let's instead 'focus' on the all-around awesomeness I could bring to your life, because I bring a LOT of fun to the table! ('See' what I did there? Two sight jokes in a row -- I'm a funny guy!) I'm a mischievous jokester and make my foster dad laugh all the time with my busybody antics. I love to run and play in foster dad's big backyard, so I would love to have a home with a fenced yard that I can enjoy. My favorite activity is playing chase with my big ball outside, followed closely by my second favorite activity: sneaking the ball inside to play chase with it in the living room! I like to run and play non-stop until I am so exhausted that I can fall asleep immediately on my comfy cozy dog bed. I would love an active family that will play with me and let me be the active, adventurous guy I am meant to be! I'm pretty good with my house manners, but I am basically a giant puppy with lots to learn about the world so I would love to take a few training classes with my forever family. My Fetching Tails friends always say that training is important and a good idea for all newly adopted dogs and I must say that I agree. I am potty trained (so no accidents in the house!) and have learned the command 'sit,' and I would love to learn more so I can be my best self for my forever family. I aim to please! I simply adore people and want nothing more than to make my humans happy! Plus I hear training classes are fun for humans and dogs alike, and if something is fun I want to be there in the middle of the action! So what are you waiting for? If I sound like I could be the perfect dog for you, please get in touch with my Fetching Tails friends today and say 'I want to see the world with Walter!' Love, Walter If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 16-06-30-00271Delilah (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE WITHIN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS* Hey there, I'm Delilah! If you are looking for a beautiful, very special young girl, it's your lucky day because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a 7-month-old 'pitbull' mix who is on the smaller side at 40 pounds. And when I say beautiful, I mean beautiful: I am a gorgeous blond with some striking white highlights (ever hear the song with my name in it by the Plain White T's? The lyric 'Times Square can't shine as bright as you' could have been written about me!) My past life was kind of ... (Read More)crazy, and I am so happy to be learning what it's like to be a puppy now in my awesome foster home. And I love soaking up all the love and attention I can get; I am like velcro to my foster mommy's side so I can get all the massages and 'good girls' I never heard before! You see, I was found in pretty horrible conditions where five other dogs and I were locked in crates with no food or water. We were brought to Chicago Animal Care and Control, but then our former 'owner' tried to fight the case against him and get us back so we had to stay at CACC for four months while our case worked its way through the courts. We were thankful that the organization Safe Humane Chicago kept an eye on us and tried to help us, and once our 'owner' lost his case we were free to go to rescue and move on with our new lives! I am making up for lost time in my foster home, learning all about what the good life is like (four months in the life of a puppy is a long time to be in a kennel at animal control!) I have a canine foster sister who is a pittie too and the same age as me, and she is teaching me how to play and live the comfortable life in a home. I just love hanging out with her and running around the yard together. I never did that before, but boy do I love it now! I would love a forever home with another playful dog (so far I have met puppies and other large dogs and get along great with them!) so I can continue to learn from him/her and have a best friend for life! I have a few ideas about what would be an amazing forever home for me. I would love patient humans who want to help me learn and blossom into the dog I always deserved to be! I'm playful, VERY loving, and happy; I just need help learning some more manners and how fun the world really is because I wasn't exposed to very much previously. Foster mommy is teaching me how much fun walks around the neighborhood are; I could use extra practice with my leash skills, but I do enjoy the walks themselves. So if my forever family could be encouraging and patient while I continue to soak up new information that would be amazing! I would love to go to training classes to continue to socialize with other humans and dogs and to keep learning new tricks. I'm pretty smart so I think we would be the class valedictorians in no time! I'm also getting the hang of potty training as well; my brain is like a sponge and I am learning quickly because more than anything I want my people to be proud of me and I want to make them as happy as they make me! Don't I sound like an amazing, special lovebug? Once you meet me 'even more in love with me you'd fall, we'd have it all!' Please get in touch with my Fetching Tails friends soon to meet me! After waiting so long for my new life to begin, I can't wait for my 'happy tail' as a part of your family! Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (SUBURBAN CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT* How you doin'? I'm Rusty, but my friends call me Love Muffin, and if you're looking for a handsome stud who will provide you with endless affection, I'm the dog for you! I am a 6-year-old, 85-pound reddish/gold colored Lab mix and I am looking for a forever home through Fetching Tails Foundation. Not to sound vain, but I'm a pretty awesome guy. I don't know how I ended up all alone at a local animal shelter, but I was so happy when my new human friends at Fetching Tails came to save me. I have been loving life at my foster home. I am my foster ... (Read More)dad's shadow and love to follow him around, and I also really like my doggie foster sister. We have so much fun playing in the big back yard together. I even get along with the resident cat! He is usually shy around dogs, but my happy demeanor lets him know I'm a good friend. And boy do I have a happy-go-lucky personality! Since I am middle aged, though I have lively energetic bursts (especially when playing with my foster sister!) I also like to chill out and relax a LOT too! It's a nice balanced energy level, I think. I'm always happy to meet new people, and I like to bark and let other dogs know I'm here when I see them walking by the house. I'm just so friendly and want to make new pals! I am also potty trained and listen well to commands, including sit, down, paw, and 'come on' when foster dad wants me to follow him. Foster dad says I'm very well behaved in the house. I don't need to be crated when he is at work; I whine like a puppy a little when he leaves, but then I just lay around and wait for him to come home. I don't even jump on the furniture! My foster sister is always climbing on the couch, but I am happy laying on the floor near my person. When I think of my forever home, I'm not too picky. I just want a home with people who love me as much as I love them (so love me A LOT!) I would have fun with a doggie playmate, but would also be content as your one and only love muffin. I like to play in my foster dad's fenced yard, but I would do fine in a home without one as long as we could enjoy walks together. I do love food and especially treats, though, so hopefully my forever family will keep a hearty stock of cookies for me to snack on. I'll even work for my treats; my favorite 'trick' is taking selfies! I love when my foster dad's adult daughter visits and pulls out her camera phone. Hey, I know I'm handsome and if you want to take a picture to show your friends what a good looking fella I am, I am happy to make a goofy smile! So what are you waiting for? I sound like Mr. Wonderful, right? Right! Please hurry up and get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation today; tell them the love muffin Rusty sent you! I can't wait to start our life together! Love, Rusty If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org if you have any questions please email us. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

*MUST LIVE IN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (SUBURBAN CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT* Hi ho, Hi ho, off to a forever home I would like to go! My name is Doc and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! Are you looking for a fun, big, lovable pup to call your own? I could be the perfect young lad for you! I am a 47-pound, five-month-old American Bulldog/Australian Shepherd mix. I came to Fetching Tails Foundation with my momma Fiona and six other puppies when we were four weeks old. My siblings were all adopted, but I decided to stay with my momma and keep her company while she had heartworm treatment. I am ... (Read More)quite the chivalrous fellow! She is feeling better, so I am ready to spread my doggie wings and find a forever home now. I am a fun-loving puppy, and would love a fenced yard in which to run and play at my forever home. After a proper introduction, I love to play with other dogs as well. My foster family has a 165-pound Mastiff and we get along great; we spend a lot of time goofing around in the yard together. I am also a big fan of toys and can never have enough; I hope my forever family will buy me all the toys they can find! When I am all done burning my energy during play time, I love to curl up on the couch with my people for a nap. I have two human siblings who are 8 and 10 years old; I love to lay right on top of my 8-year-old human brother when we nap on the couch together. So I would do well with kids if you have them! For a puppy, I have pretty awesome manners, too. I am potty trained and crate trained already. My mommy Fiona needed to be on 'bed rest' because of her heartworm treatment, so foster mommy got us an extra large crate to nap in together so I could help keep Fiona calm. It helped momma Fiona so much, and I liked to be able to cuddle with her as much as possible. Like all puppies, I have more to learn and would love to take some puppy obedience or beginner training classes with you! I like to jump up on people to say 'HI!' and know that sometimes humans don't like that so we could work on proper greetings together. I am also really good on a leash now and enjoy walks with my foster family! I can be left alone for a few hours now; I think I would prefer to have humans who don't leave me alone for more than 5-6 hours a day because I get a little bored the longer my humans are gone. What can I say? I love my people and prefer to be around them as much as possible! Wouldn't you like to be around me as much as possible, too? If a handsome, outgoing, smart, and most of all loving pup sounds like the perfect addition to your family, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation today! I have had a blast in my foster home these past few months, but I am ready to start the next chapter of my story now! Rescue Me ID: 16-06-02-00355Ari (female)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

*MUST LIVE IN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (SUBURBAN CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT* Hello everyone! My name is Ari, and I'm a sweet senior girl with a lot of love yet to give! I like to think of myself as aged to perfection. You know, like fine wine or good cheese. I'm a beautiful, brown eyed girl with an expressive look that will melt your heart! I'm a Rottweiler mix, so I'm just a tad smaller than your average Rottie and weigh in at about 100 pounds of love. And at 10 years young, I'm a Special Reserve vintage. I was rescued by Fetching Tails Foundation after being dumped by the side of the road in a local suburb; a witness saw ... (Read More)my family push me out of their car and drive away. I'm not sure why, because my Foster Mom and Dad (FM and FD) say I'm just about as sweet as they come, and that I'm such a good girl! Maybe they didn't want me anymore because I move a little slower than I used to, or because I had some untreated health issues. Not to worry, though! FTF made certain I got the treatment I needed. Once FTF heard about me, my story took a wonderful turn for the better. Now I'm in a foster home where I'm loved and pampered, with a furry foster sister to keep me company. My FM just loves it when I greet her at the door wagging my nub of a tail. I'm an easy-going girl, and I'm no longer interested in running through the grass chasing squirrels - I leave that to my much younger foster sister. Instead, I prefer to be close to you. If you're busy folding laundry or fixing dinner, I'm right there to supervise. If it's time to kick up your feet and relax with your favorite TV show or a classic book, I enjoy lying near your feet and just being nearby in case you want to pet me. I love having my belly rubbed, and if you hit just the right spot on my belly or behind my ears, I'll 'purr' (in a very dignified, doggy-kind-of-way, of course!). If you stop petting me before I'm ready, I gently place my paw on your knee while gazing into your eyes. Gentle, pretty, endearing, and all-around charming - that's me! I'd like my new home to be fairly laid back. I like everyone I meet, but sometimes younger dogs and kids don't understand that I'm not as spry as I'd like to be. If there are other dogs, I would prefer older, more settled fur siblings like myself. I'm good with older kids who understand that I'm not as playful these days, and I would enjoy a fenced yard so I can go outside off leash to relax or do my business. I'm fully house trained, and I even know to go potty in a specific area of the yard - no hunting for messy piles in the middle of your lawn with me! I'm well-educated, too. I know 'sit,' 'down,' 'paw,' and 'come,' but if you want to teach me more commands, I'm game! Hey, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. I'm crate trained, but I don't really need to be crated -- I know what's acceptable for me to chew on, and I pride myself on my excellent manners! I'm fine being left alone for 8 or 9 hours at a time, although I'm lucky enough that my foster home has a dog walker for me and the foster sis on the few occasions no one is home. I have to admit, I kinda like that I don't get left more than 5 or 6 hours at a time. I'm used to having people around (FM and FD have alternating schedules), but I'm adaptable if everyone is out during the day. It would be great if you had the flexibility to work from home one or two days a week, though! I'm really looking forward to finding a family who will love and cherish me for the rest of my life. I know I still have a lot to give to a family, or just to one person! If you think I would be a good fit for your home, please hurry and contact my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation. I'm waiting patiently for you!
