Rescue Me ID: 17-02-14-00247Bunny (female)

Greyhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!)* Well hello there! I'm Bunny, but as you can see, I don't have a fluffy tail! I'm a 4-year-old greyhound mix with a beautiful black coat and a white 'tuxedo' chest, as well as some white markings on my paws. Very classy! If you are looking for a new best friend, you are in luck because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! My Fetching friends saved me from Chicago Animal Care & Control. When CACC found me, I was living in an abandoned apartment with two other dogs. That was a scary time for me. At the ... (Read More)shelter, I was still very afraid and would bark out of fear. I just didn't know what was going on. That's when the amazing folks at Fetching Tails Foundation came into my life. Now I'm living in a quiet, comfortable foster home and my foster mom says I'm doing much better. I love people and am eager to do what is asked of me. I also get along pretty well with other dogs and kids, with a little supervision. My foster mom says I'm super-sweet, curious, smart and very playful. I love playing with my toys, sometimes two at a time! I'm also very protective of my foster brother, who is a small dog, and enjoy playing hide-and-seek with him. Overall, I'm a happy girl, content to be wherever my people are, especially snuggling on the couch or in bed. I walk well on a leash, but I may need some help learning not to pull at first, because I'm so excited to get out and explore! I am crate trained and potty trained, and I'm proud to say I have not had a single accident since I've moved into my foster home. I know basic commands and listen very well. I'm still getting used to being fed regularly, so I tend to eat my food quickly, but I will sit quietly while you prepare my meal. My foster mom is usually gone about 8.5 hours each day, and I am so well-behaved the whole time she is at that place she calls 'work!' I wait patiently for her to come home and can't wait to greet her when she does. And although I am happy in my foster home, what I want more than anything is a forever family to love me and take care of me. Could that be you? If you think you want a dog who would be devoted to you 110%, then contact Fetching Tails Foundation. I look forward to meeting you! Love, Bunny If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 17-01-06-00286Eli (male)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hello hello! Are you looking for a fun-loving, loyal, handsome companion who is ready for a lifetime of kisses and adventures? I am Eli, and it is your lucky day because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a 2-year-old 'pitbull' mix, and if I may be so humble, I am quite the handsome fellow. I have stunning golden fur, and a long tail that never stops wagging because I am such a happy guy! I currently weigh in at 51 pounds, but my nice veterinarian says I need to gain a few more to be at my ideal ... (Read More)size. Will you be my forever family and provide me with yummy treats to help me reach my goal weight? Fetching Tails Foundation saved me through the Chicagoland Rescue Intervention and Support Program (CRISP) that they co-founded with other rescues in the area. My previous owner brought me to Chicago Animal Care & Control; he was a landlord and his tenants left me with him when they had to move out but unfortunately he couldn't keep me. Thankfully my friends from CRISP and Fetching Tails were at the shelter that day and I was able to go home with my foster mommy instead of ever going in the busy building! I feel like I hit the jackpot, and I am so happy I get a chance to find a real forever family. My foster home is so much fun: I have two mid-size doggie girlfriends to play with and I get along great with them! I think it would be amazing to have a doggie playmate at my forever home and am keeping my paws crossed that I can join a family with another goofy, friendly dog like me. My favorite activities include going for long walks, playing fetch and running around my foster family's fenced yard, and playing with as many squeaky toys as I can get my paws on. Don't I sound like such a fun fella? I also love meeting new people: I dole out kisses to everyone I meet of all ages; I even did great meeting what you humans call a toddler. I think that means I would make a fine family dog! And I am a super smart pup, too! I know loads of commands including sit, paw, down, and come, and because I am so studious I am currently working on stay. I am also potty trained, though I like to go out often; foster mommy says I can make it about three hours right now and I am trying to extend my streak. When foster mommy goes to work for up to five hours, I am comfortable hanging out in my private Eli room and don't scratch at the door or bark while she is gone. I am curious about the world and love to learn, so maybe it could be fun for us to take some training classes together for special bonding time and to see how many more commands we can learn together? I think we could have a great time seeing what the world has to offer us, and I even love car rides so imagine all the fun adventures we could have together! So, what do you think? I sound like a pretty awesome dude, right? What are you waiting for? Please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon and let them know you are ready to have a fun-filled, active, loving life with Eli! I can't wait to enjoy the good life with my forever family! Love and cuddles, Eli If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 17-01-06-00272Lolo (female)

Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Greetings! Are you looking for a playful, active girl with whom to enjoy a lifetime of fun adventures? My name is Lolo, and I am a 3-year-old Shepherd mix who is ready to report for duty! I am a 40-pound, medium-size beauty and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I have stunning black and tan coloring, and I am a fun, bouncy girl who would love nothing more than to play lots with you, then curl up on your lap when we are all worn out (I think my medium-size build is perfect for keeping your lap nice ... (Read More)and warm!) Fetching Tails Foundation saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control, where my previous owners left me when they no longer wanted me. I have to be honest with you, I am am having WAY more fun in my foster home than I ever did before! I get to play, play, play to my heart's content, and I have lots of toys to pick from...doesn't that sound amazing? I am a playful girl, and I would love a forever home with a fenced yard so I can run and play to burn all my fun energy. I enjoy chasing balls when my humans throw them, and also like toys such as kongs and antlers that I can chew. My foster home also has other doggies, and I love to play with them too, so it would be fun to have another playful pup in my forever home so we can keep each other entertained. If you have human kiddos I think I would do best if they were older because of my playful nature. I am very affectionate with the people I love, and enjoy being near them as much as possible for cuddles once I am tired from my playing. I am a very smart girl, and am learning lots of new things in my foster home. I am potty trained and crate trained. When my foster parents have to go to that place they call 'work,' I happily hang out in my crate with my favorite treat-filled kong. I also know a few commands such as sit, leave it, no, and yes. I am working on the stay command and on leash training...I love to go for long walks but am learning not to pull on the leash. Fetching Tails encourages all adopters to take their new pups to training classes, and I think I would really enjoy seeing how much more I can learn to be the best dog I can be. My foster mommy says I can act like a puppy with my excitement and happiness, but I am also a good listener and quickly learn the proper ways to behave with proper guidance and training. If I sound like I could be the goofy, fun-loving, affectionate doggie for you, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon and let them know Lolo sent you! I can't wait to start my 'happy tail' with my forever family! Love and tail wags, Lolo If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 16-12-26-00330Ricky (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Howdy! My name is Ricky; I am sweet, sensitive, curious, and I am looking for a loving, patient family to call my very own. Could that be with you? I am a 3-year-old, 60-pound Labrador mix, and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I am very humble, but my human friends tell me I am a stunningly handsome boy: they like to tell me I am fancy because I look like I am wearing what they call a tuxedo. I have rich black fur, and my chest is white as freshly fallen snow. My friends from Fetching Tails ... (Read More)Foundation rescued me from a shelter in Southern Illinois, where my previous owners left me and my two sisters. My sisters were more outgoing than me so they were adopted quickly, but because of my shy nature I couldn't find a home and the shelter reached out to see if FTF could help. My foster momma was very excited to offer to help me find a home so I made my way to Chicagoland for a fresh start! My foster home is wonderful: I have two big dog friends to show me the ropes and help me gain confidence. I think it would be amazing to have a dog friend in my forever home because I am most comfortable watching my fellow canines to see how home life works. I can be shy at first with new people and new surroundings; the first few days in my foster home I was content to chill in a corner with my comfy dog bed while I watched everything going on to make sure that I was safe. Now that I am feeling more comfortable, I explore the house more and hang out with my doggie friends. So a family who will be understanding that I need some time to decompress at first in my forever home is really important to me. One of my favorite activities is exploring the yard and wrestling with my doggie friends while we are outside. I would love a forever home with a fenced yard so I can enjoy the great outdoors. I am potty trained, and very comfortable in a crate (I consider it my doggie-den safe space!) I do fine when mommy has to leave the house for work or errands; like I said, I love my crate and am happy to curl up for a nap while she is gone. Fetching Tails Foundation likes to encourage all adopters to attend some training sessions with their new pets, and I think that could be very beneficial to help me learn some new tricks and boost my confidence. Foster mommy is working with me on leash training, and I think we could continue to work on that together. I love to eat so with some treats as motivation, I am sure we could learn a lot together and master many skills! I have waited a long time to find a loving family who will help me live the good life I have always dreamed about. If you think you could be the family to help me find my confidence and happiness, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon! I can't wait to start my happily ever after with a family that help me reach my full potential and love me forever! Love, Ricky If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Greetings! My name is Perla, and if you are looking for a devoted, sweet-as-sugar little friend to cuddle, I am a 5-year-old Chihuahua who is available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am 8 pounds of love, and I have gorgeous caramel-colored fur. My adorable ears always stand at attention because I like to listen to every word my favorite people say, and I love to look at you with my big, beautiful eyes. Fetching Tails Foundation rescued me after my previous owners had to give me away. I have been having lots of ... (Read More)fun in my foster home since my rescue: some of my favorite activities include hanging out with my doggie friends (foster mommy has a couple other little chihuahuas like me!), running around in the yard and throughout the house, and playing with soft, squeaky toys. I get along fabulously with other dogs and think it would be fun to have another furry friend or two in my forever home, however my friends should be of the doggie variety and not kitties. I am a little shy when meeting new humans for the first time, but once I come out of my shell I am the most loving little girl you will ever meet: I love to snuggle, and shower you with my affection. I have pretty great house manners, too: I have been working on my potty training and crate training since my foster mommy saved me. I am good about using a pee pad now that I know what it is for, and will go potty outside when we go out to do our business. With consistency and a routine I will have a perfect record in no time. If you have to leave the house for a few hours to go to work or run errands, I will be content to make myself a perfect little chihuahua nest out of my blankets and doggie bed so I can curl up for a nap. I love to be warm and comfortable, so I hope my forever family has lots of blankets for me to call my own! If a sweet, lovable, little snuggler sounds like the doggie friend for you, please get in touch with my friends from Fetching Tails Foundation and let them know Perla is the darling girl for whom you have been searching! Rescue Me ID: 16-12-26-00203Steinbeck (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Aaaaa-woooo! That is beagle-speak for HELLO! My name is Steinbeck and I am a 5-year-old beagle/basset mix. If you are looking for a devoted, lovable, huggable companion, it is your lucky day because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I am a super handsome tri-color (white, tan, black) fellow, and like the stories by the author after whom I am named, I am loaded with heartwarming character: I am funny, loving, entertaining, and if you give me the forever home I long for, I will never ever leave your ... (Read More)side! My Fetching Tails friends saved me from Chicago Animal Care & Control in August, where my previous owner left me when they could no longer take care of me. I needed quite a bit of TLC when my foster mom brought me home; I was very overweight and had a fully ruptured ACL in my left hind leg. But my foster family has been taking great care of me: thanks to a healthy diet, I have lost almost 15 pounds (I weigh about 40 now...foster mom thinks I could still lose a couple more pounds, but I am on the right track!) I also had surgery to repair my leg in October. It has been quite a journey complete with lots of bed rest, but I am getting around very well now and my leg feels SO much better! I feel like a new dog, and now I am ready to continue my adventure and find my forever family! I am a happy-go-lucky guy, and like many hounds, I love to spend time in the great outdoors sniffing all the lovely smells. I would love a fenced yard at my forever home so I can enjoy exploring and sunbathing. I also get along well with other dogs; I have a beagle, a doxie, and a 'mystery mix' as my BFFs at my foster home. I am playful, but have had to sit back and watch them run around while my leg heals; thankfully they also like long cuddle sessions so we have had a good time sharing my doggie bed. If you have a dog for me to be friends with, I think that would be so much fun! I think I would do best with older kids, and I would also do best in a forever home without cats. More than anything, I would love for my humans to be home more often than not because I simply love being around my people. It makes me so happy to lay near you, receiving belly rubs and head massages. My foster family tells me I am a well-behaved boy, as well. I am potty trained, and don't chew things I'm not supposed to in the house. I have a couple favorite toys I enjoy, and if you have to go out to run errands, I will settle down on my dog bed and wait for you to return. I do think I would do best in a single-family home instead of a townhouse or condo; I am what my foster mommy calls a 'storyteller' and I like to beagle bark to tell you all about my day, so it would be a good idea if we didn't share a wall with a neighbor who might not like my talking skills. I also think it would be nice if I didn't have to navigate too many stairs in the immediate future; I am still working on strengthening my leg so stairs are still a bit of a challenge for me. My fosters can fill you in with more details about my progress and how to make sure my leg continues healing properly! If you are looking for a dog who will be happy to be by your side through all of life's adventures, I am the handsome, attentive, LOVING boy for you! If you would like to arrange a meet-and-greet with me, please fill out an application and get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon! As much as I love my foster home, I am ready to start my 'happily ever after' story with my forever family!     *MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hello! My name is Khloe, and I am a shy, sensitive little girl looking for a forever home with an extra special family! I am a 1.5-year-old Chihuahua mix and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I am 7 itty-bitty pounds, and I have gorgeous toffee-colored fur. I have tall legs like a dancer, and a long tail my foster mommy lovingly calls my antenna. My big, beautiful ears are always standing straight up in the air because I like to listen carefully to my people when they tell me how much they love me. ... (Read More) Fetching Tails Foundation saved me from Chicago Animal Care & Control, where my previous owner left me behind. I waited at the loud, busy shelter for weeks and was very scared; thankfully my human friends from Fetching Tails came to save me and I have been decompressing and settling into my foster home ever since. I am shy with new people, but once I know that you will love me I am very loving right back. I am hoping for a quiet forever home without children and with patient humans who will help me continue to come out of my shell and blossom into the happy, confident girl I know I am meant to be. Foster mommy has two other very playful chihuahuas and though I am shy with them, too, I am learning a lot from them. I think I would be happiest with another small, calm dog or as your one-and-only canine companion so I can have all your devoted attention! I am a smart girl and I am learning more about the world every day. I am potty trained and also crate trained. In fact, I actually really like my crate because I feel safe there. I would prefer a forever home where people are home more often than not because once I trust you I want to be near you as much as possible. Foster mommy doesn't think I have ever been walked on a leash before, so I am slowly learning how to go for walks on a harness. Fetching Tails encourages all adopters to sign up for training classes with their new pups, and I think that would be a good experience for me to learn more about how the world works, and to also work on my confidence and socialization. Rescue Me ID: 16-10-26-00618Cyla (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Howdy! Are you looking for a lively, active, and devoted new best friend? My name is Cyla, and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a gorgeous 1.5-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix. I am about 45 pounds and have stunning silver/blue fur that sparkles when the sun shines on me. I also have a darling white and pink patch on my nose; it is so cute that you won't be able to resist looking at my sweet, happy face all the time! I was saved by Fetching Tails Foundation through a program they ... (Read More)co-founded called CRISP (the Chicagoland Rescue Intervention & Support Program.) My previous owners brought me to Chicago Animal Care and Control to give me up, but because of CRISP I found immediate rescue and never even had to enter the busy, overwhelming shelter! I was so happy to go to a foster home and start to learn how to be a loving family pet. When I was rescued, I wasn't potty trained, and foster mommy thinks I was never actually allowed inside a house before because I had a lot to learn, but I am a VERY smart young girl and have been an excellent scholar so far. I am now almost completely potty trained; with continued practice and patience while I settle into a routine I will have it perfected very soon! I have also learned to sit on command and am crate trained. I have more to learn, and would love a forever family who will take me to some training classes to continue to become the best version of myself. I love receiving praise and treats, and I hear you get a lot of both at training classes, so sign me up, please! When I think of my forever home, I think I would love an active couple who will play with me and take me for long walks; maybe I could even be your jogging buddy? I am an active girl, and would love a family that will be happy to keep up with me. Because of my energy level and play style, I would do best in a home with older, teen-aged children. I would also be very happy to be your one and only canine companion. I like to play with my toys can keep myself entertained (one of my favorite games is to throw a ball in the air so I can catch it!). And if it's not too much to ask, I would love a fenced yard so I could run around and play. What can I say? I am a young dog and play time is my favorite time! When I am done playing, I love to jump up in bed with you and roll around in the comfy blankets before we cuddle a bit. Doesn't that sound like the ideal life? I am a fun-loving, people-adoring, goofy girl; if I sound like I could be a good addition to your family, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation soon and let them know Cyla sent you! I can't wait to go on fun adventures with my forever family! XOXO, Cyla If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Great Dane Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Here ye, Here ye! My name is Leonardo, and if you are looking for a handsome prince to call your sweet, devoted new best friend, get ready for the royal treatment because I am looking for a forever castle to call my own. I am a 9-month-old, 65-pound Great Dane mix (I still have a little growing to do, though!) who is available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I am uniquely stunning: I have velvety black fur that also has swirls of brindle mixed in. Like a jewel in the queen's collection, I am one-of-a-kind and ... (Read More)everyone will tell you what a handsome friend you have. And you can see how friendly and loving I am by looking at my sweet puppy face with my big silly grin and expressive eyes! My friends from Fetching Tails Foundation saved me from Chicago Animal Care & Control. I had a limp and looked to be in pain, but thankfully they looked past that to see my glowing personality and took me on my freedom ride to my loving foster home. After visiting with a couple doctors, it was determined that I have hip dysplasia; I have been going to water and laser therapy treatments to help strengthen my hips, and boy has it helped! I enjoy my therapy sessions and they are helping me get strong so I can enjoy all of life's fun adventures! I enjoy walks around the neighborhood and around the yard with my foster parents. I think it would be great fun to have a fenced yard at my forever home because I love to play and with continued strength training I am looking forward to when I will be able to run at my heart's content. I also get along well with other dogs, and even live with a cat at my foster home! I am a goofball and would love to play a lot, but because my furry friends are all in their elder years I have learned to temper my energy level and not be hyper with them. Foster mommy keeps me busy and happy with games of Fetch when my doggie friends are tired and don't want to play. It would be fun to have furry friends in my forever home, but I would also be very content as your one and only since I love human attention so much. I am an attentive guy and just want to make everyone around me happy so I respond well to praise, corrections, and especially treat rewards. I LOVE food; I usually help foster mommy get my meals ready just to make sure she is filling my food bowl up enough. What can I say, I like to be helpful! I have learned a lot in my foster home, but since I am a young guy there is more for me to learn (thankfully, I like to think of myself as a scholar and love to learn new things! It makes me happy to receive praise and treats so I am all for learning if it means I get more of both!) I am already potty trained and crate trained; I do fine relaxing in my crate while my foster parents are at work. I am so happy when they get home, though, and we always go straight out for a walk so I can do my business and burn some of my excited energy (I get so excited because I am SO elated to see my favorite people again when they come home!) I am also learning what is appropriate to chew and what isn't; foster mommy gives me kong toys to chew on and I am very happy to play with toys. Fetching Tails Foundation likes to encourage all adopters to attend formal training classes with their new pups, and I really think that would be a lot of fun (if I haven't made it clear enough yet, I am all about fun!); I would love to see how many other tricks and commands I could learn! I don't mean to sound vain, but I truly am a special dog, and the lucky family who adopts me will feel like they hit the jackpot. If a silly, playful, affectionate and devoted guy sounds like the dog you have been looking for, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon and let them know Leonardo is the big, handsome prince you have been searching for! Puppy cuddles and kisses, Leonardo If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Are you ready for a lifetime of fun and adventures with a devoted canine companion? Do you need a buddy with whom to watch sports on tv? Well, I would like to apply for the job. My name is Deacon, and I am a 1-year-old border collie mix; lucky for you, I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a pretty good looking dude if I say so myself. My coat is decorated with caramel and white swirls, and I have handsome hazel eyes. And I am about 40 pounds of lively love! My friends at Fetching Tails ... (Read More)Foundation saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control. Ever since my foster mommy took me into her home, I have been having a total blast playing with her female pittie mix Rey (who is a Fetching Tails alumna! She tells me all the time in our doggie language that I will find a great forever home for myself just like she did!) We love to run around in the backyard together and play together inside, and play with our toys and chew bones together, basically playing together as much as possible. I love to play and be active, so I would love a forever family that likes to be active, too; I could be a great workout buddy if you need a friend on long walks. It would also be amazing to have another dog friend; I think a canine companion about my size and energy level would be a perfect fit! We can keep each other entertained and be best friends forever. And I am serious about watching sports on tv: it doesn't matter what sport, if there is a game on the telly I like to get right up in front of it and keep an eye on the ball. So when we are all done going on fun adventures and playing, I would be the happiest dog alive if we could watch a highlights reel or two on ESPN together. I have great house manners and I am learning even more all the time! I am potty trained, and I do fine resting in my crate while foster mommy goes to work. She says I am very good at letting my people know when I have to go outside and 'take care of business.' I know a few basic commands, including sit, stay, and give paw. I love to learn, and Fetching Tails Foundation likes to encourage all adopters to attend training courses with their new pups, so I think it would be a lot of fun if we could take a few classes together. I love to go on long walks, but I can get excited and pull a little strong, so maybe we could work on leash skills together in doggie school? More than anything, I would love a family that is up for fun and adventures like I am, and a family that will love me for life! If I sound like I could be the fun-loving, active, spunky (And did I mention cuddly and affectionate? Because I am definitely a cuddlebug, too!) sports-junkie for you, please get in touch with my foster mommy at Fetching Tails and tell her you are ready to watch the World Series with me! American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Are you looking for a spunky new best friend who is full of life and happiness? Hi there, my name is Astra and I am an adorable 25-pound American Staffordshire mix who is available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a beautiful 1-year-old lady: I have cream and caramel-colored fur, and my ears are always up because I love to hear your voice telling me what a good girl I am. And for as pretty as I am, my personality is even more appealing than my physical appearance! I was found locally with my friend Smokey, ... (Read More)who is also available for adoption through Fetching Tails. We were on our own in Busse Woods and brought to the local animal control boarding facility. No one came to claim us, so Fetching Tails Foundation saved us when our time was up. I am having a great time at my foster home now! I have a doggie foster sister to play with, and she taught me how to play fetch; it is such a fun game! I would love a forever home with a fenced yard so I can play fetch with my forever family as much as possible. When I am all done playing, I am happy to cuddle with my people...cuddling is the best! I get along well with other dogs and all humans; I think it would be fun to have human kiddos as my best friends, but it might be best if they are past the toddler stage because I would hate to accidentally knock over my human sibling when I am playing zoomies (one of my other favorite games...it involves running around as fast as I can to see if I can outrun my shadow!) I am also learning a lot in my foster home, which is great because I am a smart girl and love to learn new things! I am crate trained and rest comfortably in mine for 4-5 hours a day while foster mommy is at work. I am continuing to perfect potty training; with continued consistency and patience I will be 100-percent very soon. I know quite a few basic commands already, including, sit, lay down, drop it, and come. I also have learned to sit nicely until being told 'free' to eat or play. I love to learn, and would love to take some training courses with my forever family to continue my education. Fetching Tails likes to encourage all adopters to attend training with their new pups, and let me tell you, I am really excited by this idea! I still have more to learn; I love going for long walks but could use some practice with my leash skills...I just get so excited to meet new friends that I like to try and go faster to meet new dogs. Why don't we take a class or two together to keep working on this and other commands; I bet we would be the valedictorians in no time! I would also love the bonding time and attention; I am a social butterfly and training classes are great for working on our connection to each other as well! I am such a loving pup, and nothing makes me happier than making my humans feel as happy and loved as I do! If I sound like I could be the sweet, playful, happy lovebug canine companion for you, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon and tell them Astra is the girl for you! Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE WITHIN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hi! Are you looking for a well-mannered, playful but gentle, happy-go-lucky friend to call your new companion? My name is Wendy and I am the whole package! Sweet, friendly, easy-going, loving, the list goes on and on! And lucky for you I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a beautiful 5-year-old Shepherd mix; I have a lot of pep in my step and a lifetime of love to give the special family who chooses to give me my forever home! My foster momma saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control, ... (Read More)where my previous owners left me when they didn't want me anymore. I am one of the most loving dogs you will ever meet, but ! I spent all of my time either in the basement or yard at my last residence, so I am soaking up all the attention and affection I can get now that foster mom has promised me the good life from now on. I have wonderful house manners: I am potty trained, and am so relaxed on my comfy, cozy dog bed that I don't make a mess of things when you have to leave the house for work or errands so I don't need to be crated. I also don't jump up on furniture; even though foster momma encourages me to sit on the couch with her while we watch TV, I politely decline because I am so happy to have a bed of my own near her feet. I love to be pet and get a good back scratch, but I'm not a climb-on-your-lap cuddler. If I feel like it's been a while since I received a good back massage, I will raise my paw like a human kiddo raising her hand in class to ask you to pet me. Isn't that super cute and so polite? Sweet as sugar, that's me! Remember how I said I have a lot of pep in my step? I love going on walks, so I hope my forever family will enjoy strolling around the neighborhood with me. It is so fun to explore and say hi to all our friends in the neighborhood. I am a very friendly girl; I like all the humans I have met so far. I am just so happy to finally feel real love and kindness from people that I like to share that feeling with everyone I meet! I would prefer to be the only pet in my forever home because I LOVE having all your attention to myself. Other than being excited to go on walks, I am pretty laid-back. I'm not really interested in playing with toys, but I have fun chewing on antlers and bones (and never anything else!); I also like the occasional sniff around foster momma's big fenced in backyard. I'm so easygoing that I think I would do well in any type of home: if you are quiet and chill I can happily relax with you, and if you are active and like to be outdoorsy I can be your companion to keep you company on adventures! I love car rides, so I would be happy to go with you to explore the world! I have waited so long for a family to love me and treat me the way all dogs deserve. If you think I could be the perfect friend for you, and are looking for a girl who will happily greet you by the front door every time you come home just because I love you so much, please get in touch with my foster momma as soon as possible! Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS* Why hello there! You look like you could be searching for a devoted, protective, cuddly little furball to call your new doggie friend! You are in luck; I am Chandler and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a 5-year-old, 15-pound poodle mix, and I am as cute as can be! I have rich, toffee-colored hair, and a unique, one-of-a-kind smile: when I smile, I curl my tongue up. It makes all my human friends at Fetching Tails laugh and they tell me I am such a handsome boy! Fetching Tails saved me from ... (Read More)Chicago Animal Care and Control, the big high-intake shelter in the city. It was loud and overwhelming for a little dog like me, so I needed some time to unwind and come out of my shell in my foster home. Foster momma made sure to give me space so I could feel safe and trust her. Now I am ready to find my forever home and I have some ideas about what I think would be a perfect match. I love women the most and do best with them, and I would love a quiet home without young children. I just prefer a calmer lifestyle and I think excited kiddos would be a bit overwhelming for me. I would also do well with an assertive human who will work with me to overcome some of my shyness and fears. Once I am settled into a place and know my new humans I am fiercely loyal, but I need to take some time to get used to new people so I hope my new parents are patient while I figure out my new environment. Some of my favorite activities include playing with my toys, going for walks around the neighborhood, and receiving shoulder rubs. Foster mommy works from home and I like having her around, but she can also leave me alone for up to six hours when she needs to go out and take care of business. When mom has to leave to leave the house, I am ok to free roam while she is gone. I am still learning that it is not ok to 'pee mark' in the house; I have been wearing a belly band to teach me not to mark in the house and am getting better, but will need continued practice to master this. It's a project we can work on together, right? Right! Fetching Tails Foundation encourages all adopters to attend training sessions with their new pups; it would be a great bonding experience for us and it would help me socialize further with other dogs and humans (which sounds great to me!) I am also content to be your one and only fur friend; I like playing with other dogs that are my size, but prefer to have all your attention for myself at home. My foster mommy doesn't have other dogs and I am perfectly happy to entertain momma and myself and don't really need another dog to keep my company! I am a very loving dog once I know I can trust my people and will be your devoted companion. If I sound like I could be the little guy for you, please get in touch with Fetching Tails Foundation soon; I can't wait to settle into my adoptive home and know that I will be safe and loved forever! Mastiff Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS* Are you looking for a fun-loving, playful but very affectionate 75-pound lap dog? I am Walter, and if you are looking for an extra special canine companion to share your life with, you just might hit the jackpot with me! I am a year-old tan Mastiff mix with some handsome black highlights around my face to make me extra cute. I know how lucky I am to have been saved by Fetching Tails Foundation, and I love to enjoy life now that I have been given this second chance! Fetching Tails Foundation saved me from Chicago Animal Care and ... (Read More)Control, where I sat for weeks hoping to leave my cage behind for good. People passed me by because, quite frankly, my eye looked really gross. But my human angels from Fetching Tails looked at my sparkling personality instead of my bulging eye, so we left the overwhelming, loud shelter behind and I settled into my awesome foster home like I had always been there. Let's get the technical stuff out of the way: I had glaucoma in one eye and cataracts in the other. The glaucoma eye was beyond saving and extremely painful so that has been removed, and SO many really awesome people rallied behind me to raise money for me to have cataract surgery so I will be able to see again with one eye! Please don't let my eye issues dissuade you from considering me as your life buddy; I have adapted very well to my current condition and I will be even better after my sight is restored in my remaining eye. This eye stuff doesn't bother me now that I have been given the medical treatment and love I needed, so don't let it bother you! So let's instead 'focus' on the all-around awesomeness I could bring to your life, because I bring a LOT of fun to the table! ('See' what I did there? Two sight jokes in a row -- I'm a funny guy!) I'm a mischievous jokester and make my foster dad laugh all the time with my busybody antics. I love to run and play in foster dad's big backyard, so I would love to have a home with a fenced yard that I can enjoy. My favorite activity is playing chase with my big ball outside, followed closely by my second favorite activity: sneaking the ball inside to play chase with it in the living room! I like to run and play non-stop until I am so exhausted that I can fall asleep immediately on my comfy cozy dog bed. I would love an active family that will play with me and let me be the active, adventurous guy I am meant to be! I'm pretty good with my house manners, but I am basically a giant puppy with lots to learn about the world so I would love to take a few training classes with my forever family. My Fetching Tails friends always say that training is important and a good idea for all newly adopted dogs and I must say that I agree. I am potty trained (so no accidents in the house!) and have learned the command 'sit,' and I would love to learn more so I can be my best self for my forever family. I aim to please! I simply adore people and want nothing more than to make my humans happy! Plus I hear training classes are fun for humans and dogs alike, and if something is fun I want to be there in the middle of the action! So what are you waiting for? If I sound like I could be the perfect dog for you, please get in touch with my Fetching Tails friends today and say 'I want to see the world with Walter!' American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE WITHIN 50 MILES OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS* Unique, loving, playful, cuddlebug, people pleaser. Don't these sound like great adjectives to describe a dog? Well, lucky you, because if you are looking for a canine companion that fits all these qualities, I'm your girl! My name is JoJo and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a beautiful 4-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix and weigh a healthy 65 pounds. My gorgeous face will draw you in as soon as you see me: I'm a pretty tan color and my face looks like I spent extra time putting my make-up ... (Read More)on: I have black and white highlights that draw attention to my huge 'pittie' smile and big hazel eyes. When you look into my eyes, you can just see how happy I am and how much love I have to give. I was found locally as a stray and my Fetching Tails friends saved me when my previous owners never showed up to claim me. I have been having a great time in my foster home relaxing and letting my humans love on me. I love human attention: nothing makes me happier than being near my people and letting them give me head/belly/butt scratches. I get so excited when I see my people that I do a happy dance/bounce, but I am learning to greet people more calmly since that can be too much for some people. I think I would do best in a forever home with older kids. I love my 10-year-old human foster sister, but my excited greetings and energy might be too much for the itty-bitty humans; I would feel so bad if I accidentally knocked one of them over with my love! I have really good house manners, too. I am fully potty trained and I don't need to be crated while my humans leave me home alone because I only chew on my toys and I will find a comfy place to lay down and wait for them to come back (I often go in my 'doggie den' aka crate with the door open for naps!) I also already know 'sit,' and, like I said, am working on not jumping on people to greet them. I think a couple training classes would be so much fun with my forever family. I'm very smart and like learning new things so we could have a great bonding experience! I am very playful and would love a yard to run and play in. If you have other dogs, I think I would do best with a big dog like me who wouldn't mind my playfulness. I am such a happy girl that I get as excited to greet dogs as I do when I get to greet people; I know that can be overwhelming for some dogs so I would love a bestie who can handle my spunky demeanor! I am pretty lively, so an active home where we can play a lot or go for long walks will keep my energy level in check and wear me out so we can have nice long cuddle sessions afterwards. Once I am done playing I like to curl up with my humans and rest my head in their lap while I quietly snore and dream about how much I love my life. Don't I sound like quite the catch? If you think we could have a happy, loving life together please get in touch with my Fetching Tails friends as soon as possible so we can start our 'happily ever after' together! If you are ready to love me, I am more than ready to love you right back!     *MUST LIVE IN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (SUBURBAN CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT* Hello everyone! My name is Ari, and I'm a sweet senior girl with a lot of love yet to give! I like to think of myself as aged to perfection. You know, like fine wine or good cheese. I'm a beautiful, brown eyed girl with an expressive look that will melt your heart! I'm a Rottweiler mix, so I'm just a tad smaller than your average Rottie and weigh in at about 100 pounds of love. And at 10 years young, I'm a Special Reserve vintage. I was rescued by Fetching Tails Foundation after being dumped by the side of the road in a local suburb; a witness saw ... (Read More)my family push me out of their car and drive away. I'm not sure why, because my Foster Mom and Dad (FM and FD) say I'm just about as sweet as they come, and that I'm such a good girl! Maybe they didn't want me anymore because I move a little slower than I used to, or because I had some untreated health issues. Not to worry, though! FTF made certain I got the treatment I needed. Once FTF heard about me, my story took a wonderful turn for the better. Now I'm in a foster home where I'm loved and pampered, with a furry foster sister to keep me company. My FM just loves it when I greet her at the door wagging my nub of a tail. I'm an easy-going girl, and I'm no longer interested in running through the grass chasing squirrels - I leave that to my much younger foster sister. Instead, I prefer to be close to you. If you're busy folding laundry or fixing dinner, I'm right there to supervise. If it's time to kick up your feet and relax with your favorite TV show or a classic book, I enjoy lying near your feet and just being nearby in case you want to pet me. I love having my belly rubbed, and if you hit just the right spot on my belly or behind my ears, I'll 'purr' (in a very dignified, doggy-kind-of-way, of course!). If you stop petting me before I'm ready, I gently place my paw on your knee while gazing into your eyes. Gentle, pretty, endearing, and all-around charming - that's me! I'd like my new home to be fairly laid back. I like everyone I meet, but sometimes younger dogs and kids don't understand that I'm not as spry as I'd like to be. If there are other dogs, I would prefer older, more settled fur siblings like myself. I'm good with older kids who understand that I'm not as playful these days, and I would enjoy a fenced yard so I can go outside off leash to relax or do my business. I'm fully house trained, and I even know to go potty in a specific area of the yard - no hunting for messy piles in the middle of your lawn with me! I'm well-educated, too. I know 'sit,' 'down,' 'paw,' and 'come,' but if you want to teach me more commands, I'm game! Hey, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. I'm crate trained, but I don't really need to be crated -- I know what's acceptable for me to chew on, and I pride myself on my excellent manners! I'm fine being left alone for 8 or 9 hours at a time, although I'm lucky enough that my foster home has a dog walker for me and the foster sis on the few occasions no one is home. I have to admit, I kinda like that I don't get left more than 5 or 6 hours at a time. I'm used to having people around (FM and FD have alternating schedules), but I'm adaptable if everyone is out during the day. It would be great if you had the flexibility to work from home one or two days a week, though! I'm really looking forward to finding a family who will love and cherish me for the rest of my life. I know I still have a lot to give to a family, or just to one person! If you think I would be a good fit for your home, please hurry and contact my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation. I'm waiting patiently for you!
