Rescue Me ID: 17-05-19-00015Cookie and Luke (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hello hello! Don't worry, you aren't seeing double: we really are a dynamic duo that is looking for a forever home together! My name is Cookie and my sweet son is Luke; if you are looking for not one, but two amazing, loving, and endlessly entertaining BFFs, please consider making us a part of your family because we are available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation and Chicagoland Dog Rescue. These two groups joined together to save our lives when we showed up at Chicago Animal Care & Control because they could see how ... (Read More)bonded we are and had to give us a new chance at a happily ever after! Could that be with you? I am a 2-year-old, gorgeous Shar-Pei/American Pit Bull mix, and my dashingly handsome son Luke is about 1-year-old. I am about 35 pounds and have beautiful white and tan fur; I use my gorgeous chocolate eyes to stare adoringly at my favorite people. Luke is about 45 pounds with white and brindle swirls in his fur. We are a good-looking pair, but our personalities are even better! I am the more outgoing of the two of us (Luke is young and looks to me for instruction; who can blame him for being such a momma's boy when his momma is as awesome as me?) Luke can be shy with new people, but once he sees me say hello he opens up very quickly. We have made quite a few new human friends; everyone tells us how much they love us! We are also having a great time at our foster home: we have a big fenced yard there and we LOVE to romp and play in the wide, open space. So we would have to have a fenced yard at our forever home to enjoy. We like to be active and are a little mischievous, so having a big space to play is definitely ideal! When we are all tired out from our play sessions, we love to curl up together with our foster mommy and dole out lots and lots of sweet kisses. We are becoming good roommates and working to improve our manners more and more every day! We would love a patient family who will continue to help us be our best selves. We are working on perfecting potty training and learning to let foster mommy know when we have to go do our business. With continued practice and a consistent schedule, we will have it down in no time! We are crate trained and can be left to hang out with each other for up to eight hours in our extra large crate to entertain ourselves and take some cuddly naps together. Since we are young, when foster mommy comes home we like to spend lots of time playing and burning our energy in fun ways. We have even learned the command sit already and would love to learn more! Fetching Tails Foundation likes to encourage all adopters to attend training classes with their new pups, and we think we would greatly benefit from the chance to socialize, bond with our new family, and see just how smart we can become by learning all the fun tricks and commands we hear they teach you in class. Foster mommy says we take corrections well and learn fast, so I bet we would be the class co-valedictorians in no time! We also love car rides, so we would love to go on adventures with you! If you think two dogs are better than one, and want to give us our happily ever after together, please contact our friends at Fetching Tails and CDR soon and tell them you want double the fun with Cookie and Luke! We can't wait to start our lives and adventures with you! XOXO, Cookie (and Luke!) If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 17-05-19-00011Steffie (female)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Why hello there! You look like you have been searching for a sweet, soulful, and sensitive new love to call your own. Lucky for you, I am waiting for you! My name is Steffie and I am a 2-year-old yorkie/wire terrier mix who is available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I have gorgeous caramel-colored long silky hair, and I weigh about 12 pounds (though I could stand to gain a couple more because I am on the thin side) so I am the perfect size for some quality lap snuggles! Fetching Tails Foundation saved me ... (Read More)through the CRISP program at Chicago Animal Care & Control. My previous owners brought me to the shelter to surrender me because they could no longer take care of me, but thankfully FTF volunteers were there that day and I was able to go to a foster home immediately instead of going inside the busy, overwhelming shelter. I was shy when I first got to my foster home and took a little bit of time to come out of my shell, but now I enjoy cuddling with my foster mommy and getting my belly rubbed. I think I would do best in a forever home without small children since I can be shy and prefer calm. I get along with other small dogs, but would be content as your one and only friend as well since my favorite activities including cuddling, snuggling and napping next to you on the couch! Nothing makes me happier than spending time with the people I love and being right by their side! I have great house manners, too. I am potty trained, and don't need to be crated when my foster mommy goes to work. In fact, I prefer not to be crated, so I am extra well-behaved and don't get into anything I shouldn't. I would do fine in an apartment or house since I am well behaved and don't really need a fenced yard to run around in; just a few nice walkies every day and I will be a happy girl! Overall, I am a darling, adorable sweetheart once I come out of my shell and know you will love me and treat me like the little princess I am! If I sound like I could be the little lady for you, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon and tell them Steffie sent you! I cant wait to start our happy 'tail' together! Love and snuggles, Steffie If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 17-05-11-00169Reo (male)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind, Deaf

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hi, Reo here, and you have probably heard about me...I don't mean that to sound vain, it is just that I sort of became internet famous when my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation rescued me! Back at the end of January, two Chicago police officers found me tied to a fence looking like a hot mess, and my sad story garnered a lot of attention and support. Thanks to many generous donations and lots of loving TLC, I am fully recovered from my injuries and am ready to find a forever home! So I think it is high time for me to tell you ... (Read More)a little bit about the 'real me' and what I love about life! My humans believe I am a cockapoo mix around 10 years of age, but aren't sure what else I could be mixed with. To be honest with you, I look like I am mixed with a teddy bear: I have fluffy toffee-colored hair and it is so soft to the touch; my foster family can't help but snuggle with me when they look at me and I totally dig it! I love to eat and am now tipping the scales at 23 pounds. Foster mommy says that I probably shouldn't get any heavier so she is regulating how many treats I get these days to help me keep a healthy figure. But she knows how much I love to snack (it is one of my favorite activities!) now that I am receiving high-quality, healthy food for the first time in a very long time, so I get a few small meals through the day every few hours to keep me happy. I am also very unique and one-of-a-kind because I now have a permanent happy, winky face! I had to have one of my eyes removed because of trauma, and I am feeling SO much better now that it is gone! I have very limited sight in my remaining eye (it has a cataract), but I adapt very quickly to my surroundings and figure out the layout quickly. So what am I looking for in a forever home? That is a very good question! The most important thing to me is that I have humans that I can be around all the time. I do not like to be left alone, and like at least one of my humans to be nearby so I feel safe. Since I am mostly deaf as well, I need my humans to touch me or lightly pull on my leash every once in awhile so I know they are still with me. Maybe a retired couple who is home a lot would enjoy my company? I enjoy car rides so I could even go along with you on errands. I would also love to have a fenced yard that I can explore. I love to spend as much time outside as possible; I hop around (as you might remember from the news stories about me, I am missing a paw on my back leg...it doesn't bother me and I have adapted to get around pretty easily! My foster family also says I am very fast when I want to be!) and sniff all the fun smells; I also love to roll in the grass and just take a nap on my outdoor dog bed! I get along better with calm dogs, but would also be content as your one and only canine companion. I even get along with kitties if you have a feline friend or two! I have great house manners: I am totally potty trained and let my humans know I need to go potty by going to the door and barking. I don't chew on things I am not supposed to, and other than being outside and snacking, my favorite activity is taking a nap on the couch with my person or on the floor near her feet. I think it might be better if my forever home is a single-family house instead of a condo or townhouse because I kind of 'tell stories' a lot to let my humans know if I need something, and I would hate to bother the neighbors too much. Overall, I am a very loving, very happy cuddly little guy, and after the life I have had, I would more than anything love a forever home with humans who will dote on me and provide me the love I have missed and longed for for so long. If you think you could be the special family willing to give a special older gentleman like me the perfect home, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation and tell them Reo is the handsome fellow for you! Cuddles and kisses, Reo If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 17-05-11-00161Dixie (female)

Flat-Coated Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hi there! My name is Dixie, and if you are looking for an extra special, devoted, and fun-loving gal, you should be very excited to meet me! I am a 3-year-old Flat-Coated Retriever mix, which means I am a pretty gorgeous girl, if I could be so humble! I have luxurious, long silky licorice black hair, and soulful, loving eyes that let you know I am your forever girl! I am a little lady, too: at my last weigh-in, I was about 25 pounds. My foster momma is trying to help me fatten up a bit, but I for sure will be less than 40 ... (Read More)pounds when I am at my ideal weight. You know what that means? I am the perfect size for cuddles on your lap! I was saved from Chicago Animal Care & Control, where I was brought as a stray with some pretty bad injuries. My foster mommy's heart broke when she heard my story and immediately offered to take me under her wing and give me a safe place to recover so I happily made my way to my new life with Fetching Tails Foundation! I had a badly fractured jaw...nobody knows how it happened, but for the past month I have worn a wrap bandage around my face to help my jaw heal correctly. I am so easygoing that it hasn't bothered me at all, and I still love to give kisses! And my jaw has healed beautifully! I had an older fracture in my back leg as well that healed on its own; I think it makes me extra cute because I have a unique little hop to my step when I am running and playing with my doggie foster brother. I have put the past behind me and am seriously loving life now in my foster home. And I hear that soon I will have a forever family to call my own, it is just amazing! When I think of my forever home, I think it would be neat to have an active, affectionate family just like me who will enjoy playtime as well as snuggle time. I like to have a good time, running around the fenced yard at my foster home, and then when I come inside I immediately curl up next to foster mommy or daddy on the couch for pets and snuggles. Did I mention yet that I love to be pet? If foster mommy or daddy stops petting me, I nudge them with my head to remind them my belly still needs to be rubbed. I get along with everyone I meet, including other dogs (I love my two doggie foster brothers; they are older and I respect when they get tired and don't want to hang out with me anymore) and I even made friends with the resident kitty cat! I am also an inquisitive girl and would love a family that will keep teaching me about the big, fun world! I have been learning how to walk on a leash, and now I love my neighborhood walks with foster mommy: it is so much fun to sniff all the incredible smells and explore the world! I am also working on commands including sit, stay, down, and come. I think it would be a lot of fun to take a training class with my forever family so we can see how much more we can learn together! I bet we could be top of the class in no time! I sound pretty amazing, don't I? If a girl who loves everything about life -- from playing to exploring to curling up on the couch to watch HGTV with my foster mommy -- please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation soon and let them know Dixie is the little lady for you! I cant wait to start our fun life together! Kisses and cuddles, Dixie If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 17-05-11-00149Pooka (female)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Low Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hi there, future family! My name is Pooka and if you are looking for a snuggly, little couch potato who loves nothing more than curling up with a good blanket and her favorite people, you are in luck because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am 7 years young, and have a chill, relaxed demeanor that I am told appeals to lots of adopters! I have lots of life left to enjoy, but I am out of that hyper and energetic puppy/young dog stage and love to settle in for snuggles and love. I am a little girl, ... (Read More)weighing in at about 8 pounds, so I will fit perfectly onto your lap for Netflix and chill time! I was saved from Chicago Animal Care & Control, where my previous owner brought me when they no longer wanted me. I had to have a bit of eye surgery because I had a cherry eye, but now that it is healing up, I am ready and excited to find my true forever home! Don't get me wrong, I am having a great time in my foster home, but it will be amazing when I hear my humans say 'You are my girl forever!' My favorite activities in my foster home include eating my favorite yummy foods and treats, and taking naps with my foster mommy, especially when I can curl up under a blanket. If foster mommy can't find me, she checks under the covers in her bed and I am usually there in my Pooka-made nest. I also live with another small dog and a cat, and I get along fine with them; in fact, I mostly just ignore them since I am so zen and love to relax. I have great house manners, too, and will make an excellent roommate. I am quiet and tidy, and also potty trained. I don't need to be crated since I just find my favorite spot to nap and curl up under a blanket when foster mommy leaves the house. She is retired so I am not left alone for very long, but I imagine I would do fine if you need to leave the house for longer periods of time because of work or other adulting responsibilities. Although I don't currently live with kiddos, I get along great with humans of all ages and am always very gentle and sweet when younger people visit with me at the adoption shows. More than anything, I want a forever home where I will feel relaxed and loved for the rest of my life. If I sound like I am the perfect, low-maintenance sweetie for you, please get in touch with my human friends soon and let them know how much you love me already. I can't wait to start my happily ever after with you! Cuddles and love, Pooka If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00101Cam (male)

Lab    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Greetings future family! My name is Cam, and if you are looking for a typically goofy and cuddly Labrador Retriever, you have come to the right place because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am nearly 90 pounds of pure love and devotion, and my velvety licorice black fur will make you want to pet me all day long! I am 7 years young and am ready to finally find the happy family life for which I have longed for so long! Fetching Tails Foundation saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control through ... (Read More)the CRISP program after my previous owners surrendered me there. I lived my entire life outside and primarily slept under a porch, but I actually have excellent house manners: I have just been waiting for a family that will actually allow me to enjoy the comforts of home life! I am potty trained and also know commands like sit, stay, and down. Since I am used to being outside, I would love a forever home with a fenced yard so I can sunbathe and explore to my heart's content. But I only want my yard for playtime and sunbathing: now that I have experienced indoor life, I LOVE to nap on my comfy dog bed and lay on my foster momma when she says it is tv and couch time. I have the perfect energy balance: I can be fun-loving and silly during playtime, I can be active and a good jogging buddy on walks or runs around the neighborhood together (I am working on my leash skills since I love to go for walks so much, but right now I am a strong puller and we would need to continue to practice leash-walking together! Think of it as a fun, calorie-burning project!), and I can be a chill lazybug when it is time to relax. I can be left alone for up to 8 hours while my foster parents are at work and don't even need to be crated; I just curl up on my dog bed and enjoy a sweet slumber while I wait for them to return again. And did I mention yet that I would be a good dog to take on adventures? Fun fact: one of my favorite activities in the whole world is going for car rides! When foster mommy tells me we are going for an adventure, I get so happy that I do a silly dance! Could you be my dance partner for life? If you think I could be the handsome big lovebug for you, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation soon and let them know Cam sent you! I can't wait to start my happily ever after with my forever family! American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hi there! My name is Xena, and if you are looking for an extra special, one-of-a-kind warrior princess to be your BFF, I could be the delightful, loving companion for you! I am a fabulous 8-month-old pittie mix, with gorgeous, unique brindle-patterned fur and ears that stand at attention to let you know I am always listening to you tell me how pretty I am. Best of all? My happy-go-lucky personality outshines even my beautiful physical looks! I was rescued from Chicago Animal Care and Control by my amazing friends at Fetching ... (Read More)Tails Foundation. Let's get the sad stuff out of the way so we can focus on the positive ( because I am ALL about being positive and having a sunshine bright outlook on life!) I have two crushed discs in my lower spine, and because of that I am considered special needs. I have limited feeling in my hind end, so I can't really control my bladder or bowel and I also get around with a noticeable limp. BUT I have adapted to my condition very well and get around like a speed demon when I want to play....and let's be real, I LOVE to play and do zoomies as much as possible! I wear diapers to help with my potty issues, and I am very patient and cooperative when my foster mommy changes them for me. She will be happy to explain our diaper process to you so you can better understand my needs! I don't mind wearing them at all; I am a princess and I just think of them as a cute outfit to make me even more special and pretty! Now, let's get back to the fun stuff! I absolutely love life, and am having so much fun in my foster home. Like I said, I am a playful girl and nothing makes me happier than my many fun play times through the day: I love to play with toys and throw them all around the house so I can search them out and continue tossing them around. I think my favorite activity, though, is galloping around the yard with my dog friends. My foster mommy says I am her little busy body, and I like to know what everyone is up to in the house. But I also appreciate 'down time,' and when I am tired from playing I love to curl up for a nap on my comfy, cozy bed or snuggle on the couch with my humans. I soak up attention like a sponge, and adore cuddle times with my humans and dog friends, too. I have a great, even-mannered temperament: I can be silly and fun-loving when it is playtime, but I am also the biggest snuggle-bug when it is time to relax. When I think of my forever home, I dream of a family that will love me for me and give me all the affection and attention I crave. Nothing makes me happier than being around the people and canine friends I love most. I do fine when my foster parents have to leave the house for a few hours for work and errands and I rest comfortably in my dog bed while they are gone, but when they are home I like to be around them as much as possible. I also need to have a dog BFF in my forever home because I thrive with the companionship of canine friends. I get along great with all dogs, and read their personalities really well so I know when they want to play or when they have had enough of my silliness. I will also need my family to understand my special needs and be able to provide supplements as well as physical therapy as needed through my life. I might have more needs than the average dog, but like I am said I am unique and special and I think my devoted, endlessly happy personality and demeanor makes me worth it! If you think I could be the sweet, curious, lovebug for your family, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon! I can't wait to start my happily ever after with you!     *MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* How you doin'? Are you looking for a delightfully happy new friend with movie-star good looks to match my awesome personality? My name is Clooney, and I am a 6-year-old Puggle mix (that means pug/beagle for the newbies!) I am about about 20 pounds of friendly fun and devotion, and always wear my handsome grin to let you know just how happy I am! My chocolate brown eyes are perfect for staring at you lovingly as you rub my back and tell me what a good boy I am. Best of all? I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails ... (Read More)Foundation, so you have a chance to be the forever family I have been waiting for! My Fetching Tails friend saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control, where I was brought as a stray. As soon as they saw me begging for attention in my kennel, they said it was love at first sight and they couldn't leave me behind! I am so grateful that they saved my life, and I have been having the best time ever in my foster home. It is so wonderful to feel safe and loved for the first time in a long while. I get along well with every human I have met so far, and even like to play with other doggies, such as my fellow FTF friend Chucky. It is so much fun to play chase and play-wrestle! I love to play, play, play and would enjoy a forever home where I have the space to do 'zoomies' (that is a technical term for run around as fast as I can) so maybe a fenced yard would be nice? When it is time to settle down, I just adore laying next to my favorite people and getting a nice massage while we chat about all the fun we have had together. I have pretty good house manners, and am working on improving them every day. I like to be your little shadow when you are home, but do fine resting in my crate when you have to leave the house for work or errands. I am a little curious (it's the typical beagle in me!), so continued guidance about what I am and am not allowed to snoop around will help me be the ideal roommate. More than anything, I will do amazing with a forever family that loves to play with me and is ready to enjoy a fun life! If you think I could be your new BFF, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon and tell them Clooney is the handsome fella for you!     *MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hello there! My name is Howie and if you are looking for an inquisitive social butterfly to be your new best friend forever you are in luck because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a 2-year-old terrier mix, and since I am a small 6-pound lovebug, I can happily tag along on all of life's adventures! I have a fun blonde coat (Blondes have more fun, right? Right!), and adorable chocolate-brown eyes. I also have giant silly ears, but I think it is for the best because I love to listen to you tell me ... (Read More)stories about your day! I was found on the streets and brought to Chicago Animal Care & Control. Fetching Tails scooped me up, and I have been having the best time ever with my foster parents while I wait for my forever home. I am a good dog who learns quickly. I am working on my sit and and lay down commands. I am so eager to learn. I love to talk to people as soon as I meet them. It seems like I am just randomly barking at them but I truly want to get to know everyone and tell them who I am so they get to know my great personality. As soon as a human pets me I am in love with them forever. I am even good with human kiddos! I tend to want to be the head dog in charge no matter the size. I love to spend time outside and the best thing in the world is going for long walks on a warm day. One of my favorite things to do is to sit in my foster's lap and have my belly rubbed; that is better than vanilla ice cream, trust me! When you do that I love to reward you with lots of ear kisses! I am fine with being crated in my bedroom while my foster parents have to go to work so they can buy me more treats and toys. I am also potty trained. I do like to play but during the evening I like to sit on the couch and watch HGTV with my foster mom and Star Trek with my foster dad. Don't tell my foster mom but I am a big trekkie fan. So what do you think? I sound pretty incredible, don't I? If you like an itty-bitty dog who likes to go for walks and loves to snuggle, I am definitely the dog for you. American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hello! My name is Nora, and I am a beautiful 3-year-old 'pittie' princess who is looking for a forever home through Fetching Tails Foundation. If I could be a little vain for a second, I just have to point out that I really am a gorgeous lady: I have striking silver and white fur, and I look like I am wearing socks on my feet because of my white paws! My big floppy Minnie Mouse ears perfectly highlight my soulful, loving hazel eyes. I weigh about 50 pounds, and I am a full-grown beauty. My friends from Fetching Tails saved me ... (Read More)through the Chicagoland Rescue Intervention and Support Program they co-founded at Chicago Animal Care and Control. My former owner could no longer keep me because of landlord issues, but thankfully CRISP volunteers were at animal control that day and I got to go home with a loving foster mommy instead of going inside the busy, loud shelter. I am a shy girl, so CACC would have been really scary for me. Instead, I am adjusting to home life with my awesome foster family and I get a second shot at a new life! I was very shy at first, but my foster parents are making everything a fun, positive learning experience for me and I am a confident girl now! I love it when they talk to me and let me know that my life is going to be amazing from now on. I would do well with forever humans who are experienced dog owners, and can continue to work with me on all the fun tricks and commands I have learned. I am a very smart girl and I respond well to positive reinforcement (especially if I get tasty treats as a reward!) when working on my manners and commands. I get to take training classes with my foster parents, and believe me when I say it is my favorite day of the week! It is so much fun to be the smartest girl in class! I have learned commands including sit, stay, lay down, look, touch, swing, and to sit calmly when new friends greet me. I also have good house manners, too. I am potty trained, crate trained, and I do well on walks. Don't I just sound like an amazing catch?! Not only am I a scholar, but I also know how to have a good time. I LOVE going for my walkies with my foster mommy, daddy, and canine brother. We take long, leisurely strolls through the neighborhood and I get to see and smell all the amazing wonders of the world. I also enjoy playtime with my doggie brother. I get along with other dogs with a slow introduction, so if you have a canine friend we can meet up for a doggie date and see if our energy levels are compatible. And not to humble-brag, but I am also cat-friendly, too! Some of my favorite activities include playing zoomies so it would be fun to have a fenced yard in which to run and romp, and I love to cuddle in front of the TV with my family when we are all done playing. I hope my piggy snores don't bug you too much, I get so relaxed and comfortable that I just can't help but fall asleep while snuggling! And did I mention yet how much I love to eat? I have learned so much so fast because I am very treat motivated and will do anything to please my people in exchange for a tasty snack! I am loving and kind, and all I want more than anything in the world is a family who will love me let me be the confident, happy-go-lucky doll I am meant to be! If you treat me with patience and kindness, I will repay you with endless tail wags and pittie kisses! If you think I could be the girl for you, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon and let them know Nora sent you! I can't wait to start our forever together! Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Greetings! My name is Perla, and if you are looking for a devoted, sweet-as-sugar little friend to cuddle, I am a 5-year-old Chihuahua who is available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am 8 pounds of love, and I have gorgeous caramel-colored fur. My adorable ears always stand at attention because I like to listen to every word my favorite people say, and I love to look at you with my big, beautiful eyes. Fetching Tails Foundation rescued me after my previous owners had to give me away. I have been having lots of ... (Read More)fun in my foster home since my rescue: some of my favorite activities include hanging out with my doggie friends (foster mommy has a couple other little chihuahuas like me!), running around in the yard and throughout the house, and playing with soft, squeaky toys. I get along fabulously with other dogs and think it would be fun to have another furry friend or two in my forever home, however my friends should be of the doggie variety and not kitties. I am a little shy when meeting new humans for the first time, but once I come out of my shell I am the most loving little girl you will ever meet: I love to snuggle, and shower you with my affection. I have pretty great house manners, too: I have been working on my potty training and crate training since my foster mommy saved me. I am good about using a pee pad now that I know what it is for, and will go potty outside when we go out to do our business. With consistency and a routine I will have a perfect record in no time. If you have to leave the house for a few hours to go to work or run errands, I will be content to make myself a perfect little chihuahua nest out of my blankets and doggie bed so I can curl up for a nap. I love to be warm and comfortable, so I hope my forever family has lots of blankets for me to call my own! If a sweet, lovable, little snuggler sounds like the doggie friend for you, please get in touch with my friends from Fetching Tails Foundation and let them know Perla is the darling girl for whom you have been searching! Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Aaaaa-woooo! That is beagle-speak for HELLO! My name is Steinbeck and I am a 5-year-old beagle/basset mix. If you are looking for a devoted, lovable, huggable companion, it is your lucky day because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I am a super handsome tri-color (white, tan, black) fellow, and like the stories by the author after whom I am named, I am loaded with heartwarming character: I am funny, loving, entertaining, and if you give me the forever home I long for, I will never ever leave your ... (Read More)side! My Fetching Tails friends saved me from Chicago Animal Care & Control in August, where my previous owner left me when they could no longer take care of me. I needed quite a bit of TLC when my foster mom brought me home; I was very overweight and had a fully ruptured ACL in my left hind leg. But my foster family has been taking great care of me: thanks to a healthy diet, I have lost almost 15 pounds (I weigh about 40 now...foster mom thinks I could still lose a couple more pounds, but I am on the right track!) I also had surgery to repair my leg in October. It has been quite a journey complete with lots of bed rest, but I am getting around very well now and my leg feels SO much better! I feel like a new dog, and now I am ready to continue my adventure and find my forever family! I am a happy-go-lucky guy, and like many hounds, I love to spend time in the great outdoors sniffing all the lovely smells. I would love a fenced yard at my forever home so I can enjoy exploring and sunbathing. I also get along well with other dogs; I have a beagle, a doxie, and a 'mystery mix' as my BFFs at my foster home. I am playful, but have had to sit back and watch them run around while my leg heals; thankfully they also like long cuddle sessions so we have had a good time sharing my doggie bed. If you have a dog for me to be friends with, I think that would be so much fun! I think I would do best with older kids, and I would also do best in a forever home without cats. More than anything, I would love for my humans to be home more often than not because I simply love being around my people. It makes me so happy to lay near you, receiving belly rubs and head massages. My foster family tells me I am a well-behaved boy, as well. I am potty trained, and don't chew things I'm not supposed to in the house. I have a couple favorite toys I enjoy, and if you have to go out to run errands, I will settle down on my dog bed and wait for you to return. I do think I would do best in a single-family home instead of a townhouse or condo; I am what my foster mommy calls a 'storyteller' and I like to beagle bark to tell you all about my day, so it would be a good idea if we didn't share a wall with a neighbor who might not like my talking skills. I also think it would be nice if I didn't have to navigate too many stairs in the immediate future; I am still working on strengthening my leg so stairs are still a bit of a challenge for me. My fosters can fill you in with more details about my progress and how to make sure my leg continues healing properly! If you are looking for a dog who will be happy to be by your side through all of life's adventures, I am the handsome, attentive, LOVING boy for you! If you would like to arrange a meet-and-greet with me, please fill out an application and get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon! As much as I love my foster home, I am ready to start my 'happily ever after' story with my forever family! Love and cuddles, Steinbeck If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org/adopt or if any questions please email us! American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Howdy! Are you looking for a lively, active, and devoted new best friend? My name is Cyla, and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a gorgeous 1.5-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix. I am about 45 pounds and have stunning silver/blue fur that sparkles when the sun shines on me. I also have a darling white and pink patch on my nose; it is so cute that you won't be able to resist looking at my sweet, happy face all the time! I was saved by Fetching Tails Foundation through a program they ... (Read More)co-founded called CRISP (the Chicagoland Rescue Intervention & Support Program.) My previous owners brought me to Chicago Animal Care and Control to give me up, but because of CRISP I found immediate rescue and never even had to enter the busy, overwhelming shelter! I was so happy to go to a foster home and start to learn how to be a loving family pet. When I was rescued, I wasn't potty trained, and foster mommy thinks I was never actually allowed inside a house before because I had a lot to learn, but I am a VERY smart young girl and have been an excellent scholar so far. I am now almost completely potty trained; with continued practice and patience while I settle into a routine I will have it perfected very soon! I have also learned to sit on command and am crate trained. I have more to learn, and would love a forever family who will take me to some training classes to continue to become the best version of myself. I love receiving praise and treats, and I hear you get a lot of both at training classes, so sign me up, please! When I think of my forever home, I think I would love an active couple who will play with me and take me for long walks; maybe I could even be your jogging buddy? I am an active girl, and would love a family that will be happy to keep up with me. Because of my energy level and play style, I would do best in a home with older, teen-aged children. I would also be very happy to be your one and only canine companion. I like to play with my toys can keep myself entertained (one of my favorite games is to throw a ball in the air so I can catch it!). And if it's not too much to ask, I would love a fenced yard so I could run around and play. What can I say? I am a young dog and play time is my favorite time! When I am done playing, I love to jump up in bed with you and roll around in the comfy blankets before we cuddle a bit. Doesn't that sound like the ideal life? I am a fun-loving, people-adoring, goofy girl; if I sound like I could be a good addition to your family, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation soon and let them know Cyla sent you! Do you need a buddy with whom to watch sports on tv? Well, I would like to apply for the job. My name is Deacon, and I am a 1-year-old Australian Shepherd mix; lucky for you, I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a pretty good looking dude if I say so myself. My coat is decorated with caramel and white swirls, and I have handsome hazel eyes. And I am about 40 pounds of lively love! My friends at Fetching Tails ... (Read More)Foundation saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control. Ever since my foster mommy took me into her home, I have been having a total blast playing with her female pittie mix Rey (who is a Fetching Tails alumna! She tells me all the time in our doggie language that I will find a great forever home for myself just like she did!) We love to run around in the backyard together and play together inside, and play with our toys and chew bones together, basically playing together as much as possible. I love to play and be active, so I would love a forever family that likes to be active, too; I could be a great workout buddy if you need a friend on long walks. It would also be amazing to have another dog friend; I think a canine companion about my size and energy level would be a perfect fit! We can keep each other entertained and be best friends forever. And I am serious about watching sports on tv: it doesn't matter what sport, if there is a game on the telly I like to get right up in front of it and keep an eye on the ball. So when we are all done going on fun adventures and playing, I would be the happiest dog alive if we could watch a highlights reel or two on ESPN together. I have great house manners and I am learning even more all the time! I am potty trained, and I do fine resting in my crate while foster mommy goes to work. She says I am very good at letting my people know when I have to go outside and 'take care of business.' I know a few basic commands, including sit, stay, and give paw. I love to learn, and Fetching Tails Foundation likes to encourage all adopters to attend training courses with their new pups, so I think it would be a lot of fun if we could take a few classes together. I love to go on long walks, but I can get excited and pull a little strong, so maybe we could work on leash skills together in doggie school? More than anything, I would love a family that is up for fun and adventures like I am, and a family that will love me for life! If I sound like I could be the fun-loving, active, spunky (And did I mention cuddly and affectionate? Because I am definitely a cuddlebug, too!) sports-junkie for you, please get in touch with my foster mommy at Fetching Tails and tell her you are ready to watch the World Series with me! American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Are you looking for a spunky new best friend who is full of life and happiness? Hi there, my name is Astra and I am an adorable 25-pound American Staffordshire mix who is available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am a beautiful 1-year-old lady: I have cream and caramel-colored fur, and my ears are always up because I love to hear your voice telling me what a good girl I am. And for as pretty as I am, my personality is even more appealing than my physical appearance! I was found locally with my friend Smokey, ... (Read More)who is also available for adoption through Fetching Tails. We were on our own in Busse Woods and brought to the local animal control boarding facility. No one came to claim us, so Fetching Tails Foundation saved us when our time was up. I am having a great time at my foster home now! I have a doggie foster sister to play with, and she taught me how to play fetch; it is such a fun game! I would love a forever home with a fenced yard so I can play fetch with my forever family as much as possible. When I am all done playing, I am happy to cuddle with my people...cuddling is the best! I get along well with other dogs and all humans; I think it would be fun to have human kiddos as my best friends, but it might be best if they are past the toddler stage because I would hate to accidentally knock over my human sibling when I am playing zoomies (one of my other favorite games...it involves running around as fast as I can to see if I can outrun my shadow!) I am also learning a lot in my foster home, which is great because I am a smart girl and love to learn new things! I am crate trained and rest comfortably in mine for 4-5 hours a day while foster mommy is at work. I am continuing to perfect potty training; with continued consistency and patience I will be 100-percent very soon. I know quite a few basic commands already, including, sit, lay down, drop it, and come. I also have learned to sit nicely until being told 'free' to eat or play. I love to learn, and would love to take some training courses with my forever family to continue my education. Fetching Tails likes to encourage all adopters to attend training with their new pups, and let me tell you, I am really excited by this idea! I still have more to learn; I love going for long walks but could use some practice with my leash skills...I just get so excited to meet new friends that I like to try and go faster to meet new dogs. Why don't we take a class or two together to keep working on this and other commands; I bet we would be the valedictorians in no time! I would also love the bonding time and attention; I am a social butterfly and training classes are great for working on our connection to each other as well! I am such a loving pup, and nothing makes me happier than making my humans feel as happy and loved as I do! If I sound like I could be the sweet, playful, happy lovebug canine companion for you, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon and tell them Astra is the girl for you! I cannot wait to start our happily ever after together! Love, Astra If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 16-09-12-00562Doug (male)

Cocker Spaniel Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS* Howdy! Are you looking for a sweet little guy who would love to be your lap dog and keep you endlessly entertained? You are in luck! My name is Doug, and I am a 1.5-year-old Tibetan Terrier mix. I am only 14 pounds so I fit perfectly on all laps for cuddle sessions, and I am super handsome: you could call me salt and pepper-colored, or black with lots of light highlights. And my warm chocolate eyes will melt your heart. Fetching Tails Foundation saved me when I was found locally as a stray and my previous owners never tried to ... (Read More)claim me. Since moving into my foster home, I have settled in well to my routine of cuddling a lot and playing a lot with my loving foster family. I am shy at first so it take me a little time to trust new friends, but once I know you will love me I will be your best friend forever. My favorite activities including playing with my favorite stuffed-animal toys (I love to toss my toys over my back so I can keep chasing them!) and snuggling on the couch or in bed with my humans while we watch some TV or catch some zzzz's. So I would love a person who wants the whole package: a dog to spend lots of time playing with, but will also be happy to let me curl up on your lap when all my energy is spent. When I think of my forever home, I think I would love to be your one and only furry companion. I just love all your attention for myself, and have more than enough affection to give you in return. I would also like a human or two who will be patient while I come out of my shell and continue to work on my house manners. I am working hard on potty training at my foster home, but still have room for improvement; I am getting used to a having a potty schedule and have made great strides already! Fetching Tails likes to encourage all adopters to take a few training classes with their new pets, and I think that would be great. It could help me continue to boost my confidence, and I think we would have a lot of fun learning new things together! I would also love for my humans to be home more often than not; like I said I just love being around my people as much as possible! If a cuddly and funny, snuggly and goofy affectionate little friend is what you have been longing for, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon and let them know you would like to give Doug his 'happy tail!' Love and snuggles, Doug If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Rescue Me ID: 16-07-02-00263Walter (male)

Mastiff Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS* Are you looking for a fun-loving, playful but very affectionate 70-pound lap dog? I am Walter, and if you are looking for an extra special canine companion to share your life with, you just might hit the jackpot with me! I am a 2-year-old tan Mastiff mix with some handsome black highlights around my face. My extra-long tongue is always out because I am always smiling, and I have a permanent wink...you could say that my looks perfectly match my fun-loving, silly personality! I know how lucky I am to have been saved by Fetching ... (Read More)Tails Foundation, and I love to enjoy life now that I have been given this second chance! But my biggest dream is to finally find the adoring forever family for whom I have been waiting so patiently. Will you be the one to make my wildest dreams come true? I don't mean to brag, but I am pretty much an amazing fellow; everyone, and I mean everyone, at Fetching Tails tells me just how much the love me ALL the time. (Should it be exhausting to be so adored? Because I love it!) I bring so many fun qualities to the table. I'm a mischievous jokester and make my foster dad laugh all the time with my busybody antics. I love to run and play in foster dad's big backyard, so I would need to have a home with a fenced yard that I can enjoy. I enjoy walks around the neighborhood with my favorite people, but I consider my back yard to be my personal playground where I can romp around, play zoomies, and explore all the fun smells. My favorite activity is playing chase with my big ball outside, followed closely by my second favorite activity: sneaking the ball inside to play chase with it in the living room! I like to run and play non-stop until I am so exhausted that I can fall asleep immediately on my comfy cozy dog bed. I would love an active family that will play with me and let me be the active, adventurous guy I am meant to be! When I meet new friends, they always ask me 'Who's a good boy?' Duh, I totally am! I am definitely a people pleaser, and nothing makes me happier than making my humans smile. I love people of all ages, though because of my size and energy level I would do best with older kids. I would feel so bad if I accidentally knocked over a tiny human while romping around! I love to play with my humans, and shove my bum into you so I can get a good back scratch! Do you like to dole out belly rubs? Because I am totally into that, too. As for other pets in the house, I would be content as your one and only furry friend since my favorite play activities involve my humans. I get very excited when I meet new dogs at adoption shows and that can be off-putting for calmer dogs. I also don't like when dogs jump right in my face (Does anyone like that?); with slow intros and the right personality, I could live with another dog, but honestly I don't mind not having a dog friend in my home with me. As for cats, no thank you...I don't trust them and think they are planning something behind my back. But happy-go-lucky, playful humans who will enjoy playtime with me? Yes, please! My house manners are on point, as well. Remember when I said I am a people pleaser? I am a very smart cookie, and eager to learn. I am totally potty trained, and I enjoy relaxing on my favorite doggy bed or couch while my foster daddy has to go to work or run errands. I know a few commands, like sit, and am working on learning new ones all the time. I would love to attend a few training classes with my forever humans once adopted. I may be silly, but I am also smart, and would love to prove it in doggie school. My friends tell me training classes are fun for humans and dogs alike, are a great bonding experience, and will help me be the best version of myself possible! I am happiest when my humans are happy, so let's go learn some tricks and skills so we can lead the happiest life possible! So what are you waiting for? If I sound like I could be the perfect dog for you, please get in touch with my Fetching Tails friends today and say 'I want to see the world with Walter!' Love, Walter If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us!
